Frequently Asked Questions
I am an out-of-network provider and do not bill insurance directly. However, I am happy to provide a superbill (a detailed receipt with medical codes) that you can submit to your insurance provider for potential reimbursement. Many clients receive partial reimbursement for occupational therapy services. Please check with your insurance company to confirm your benefits. HSA/FSA cards are also accepted.

What’s the difference between occupational therapy and myofunctional therapy?
Great question - and one I get often!
Occupational therapy (OT) helps people participate in meaningful daily activities by addressing physical, cognitive, and sensory challenges. Orofacial myofunctional therapy (OMT), on the other hand, focuses specifically on the function of the muscles of the face, mouth, and throat - especially related to breathing, chewing, swallowing, and posture.
At Revive & Thrive, I’m both a licensed occupational therapist and a certified myofunctional therapist. That means I take a holistic, whole-person approach. I don’t just look at your tongue or jaw - I consider your posture, airway, nervous system regulation, and how everything works together to support long-term wellness.
So while myofunctional therapy is more specialized, my OT training allows me to go deeper and see the big picture - helping you feel better, function better, and live with ease.
How long will treatment be? How many sessions will I need?
Treatment is based on individual evaluation and varies person-to-person. 10-12 therapy sessions is typical for successful outcomes, though it varies person to person.
I’m out of state. Can I still see you for therapy?
As of right now, I am only licensed to practice in the state of California. Virtual sessions are available for all residents of the state of California.
Yes, I offer secure virtual sessions for clients who prefer remote care or are located outside of the area.
Do you offer virtual sessions?
I typically begin working with children around age 4-5, depending on their ability to participate.
What age do you start seeing children?
No referral is required. You can book directly through my site. However, often work collaboratively with your care team for a fully integrated approach.
Do I need a referral to begin?
While both may target oral function, myofunctional therapy focuses on correcting oral rest posture, breathing, chewing, and swallowing patterns. It complements - but does not replace - speech therapy when articulation or language concerns are present.
How is myofunctional therapy different from speech therapy?
